Instructions: The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is a 14-member group of IGHSAU female student- athletes that meets three times a year for in-person meetings. Members act as the voice of Iowa's female student-athletes and serve as a student sounding board for the IGHSAU’s Representative Council and Board of Directors.
In addition to assisting in the promotion of the educational value of interscholastic athletics, the Committee discusses issues dealing with scholarship, sportsmanship, safety (including health and nutrition) and student leadership. Members will participate in leadership seminars, awareness project(s) and will assist with selected State Tournament responsibilities. Members will also facilitate local leadership projects and provide feedback on a multitude of issues
directly impacting female student-athletes.
Two representatives will be selected from each of Iowa's four districts (NE, SE, NW, SW) with an additional six selected on an "at-large" basis. We have eight open seats for this coming year. Consideration for selection will include sports played, year in school, and competitive class. Females grades 9-12 may apply (grade for 2023-24 school year).

Members will be selected for a two-year term.
To be eligible for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, candidates must:
• Complete official application (including 3 - 5 minute video application)
• Submit letter of recommendation from school administrator (preferably AD or principal)
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
• Availability for scheduled teleconferences and in-person meetings
• In addition, candidates should show a history of leadership on athletic teams and other extracurricular activities, community service projects, or in the workplace; and show an understanding of the role of school sports and the value of participation for females.
